About the Artist

Artist Virginia Perle maintains her studio in Toms River near the scenes and activities that have become the inspiration of her many paintings.  The river, and its vitality and life have been the subjects of her print editions and original paintings, in watercolors, oils, and other media.  Ever changing, daily and by seasons, it is always interesting and renewing. and has been a huge influence on her work.  Many sailboats have been represented, as well as shore life in general.

Her accurate depiction of boats and nautical scenes come from long expericence and observation. She owns and races "49er" a 23' Peason Ensign and is active in the Toms River summer sailing season.  In 2002 she and her fearless crew raced in the Ensign Nationals, in 2003 they won the "October Bowl" and in 2006, they won the "Sunset Sail" series.

The activities that have become part of her life, the places near home and her many travels are directly reflected in he artwork.

She has exhibited widely in the Northeast, especially in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.  Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and in many foreign countries.  She has exhibited in the Rotunda of the House of Representatives office building in Washington, DC,  and at the Statehouse in Trenton, NJ in a summerlong one-artist show.  Her work in included in the popular new books "To the Shore Once More" Volumns I and II, "A Cats, a century of tradition", and "Long Beach Island  Rhapsody".

She has been painting and drawing  since early childhood, going on to study Fine Art at Montclair State College.  She has continued her art education through workshops and classes with a variety of fine artists. She has taught watercolors and oils and is now delighted to concentrate on her own work and to have opened her own gallery in her home town of Toms River, NJ.
